Sphere
Medium Sphere
Mediums are those which bring the energy required for ritual into sacred space.  This is
accomplished in one of two ways.  Some Mediums simply seem to be near inexhaustible sources of subtle energy, while others easily channel subtle energy from outside sources.  Regardless of which method is more applicable Mediums are also adept at establishing the pathways and connections which link the participants of ritual into one synergetic whole.

This ability to channel / produce subtle energy and create links between living beings has a
number of both positive and negative side effects.

1.)  Mediums are often deeply in touch with their emotions.  Unchecked, this quality can manifest as emotional instability.

2.) Mediums exhibit a rather sensual vibe and personality.  However, without psychological and physical intimacy Mediums are left feeling very unbalanced.

3.)  Mediums are, as their namesake suggests, more empathic / psychic than most.  While this is the primary mechanism which allows them to form links, the ambient “noise” of the world around them can be disturbing.

4.)  Mediums, regardless of physical gender typically display “feminine” characteristics.   These characteristics are, at times, judged as weakness when in actuality they can be a source of strength.
Guardian Sphere
Guardians are those who ground, stabilize, and draw out subtle energy.  Some Guardians just
seem to be bottomless pits that subtle energy can be poured into while others are natural
conduits which channel the energy into the earth.  Grounding subtle energy is only half of the
Guardians function though.  Guardians also have a modulating effect on energy which can
cause chaotic static to become useful subtle energy or solidify into energetic shields.

All things being equal, the Guardian Sphere is no different than the other two archetypes and so
there are positives and negatives also.

1.)  Being firmly grounded makes a Guardian resistant to the effects of subtle energy, but can also blind them to being able t sense it.

2.)  A Guardians ability to modulate subtle energy provides strong energetic shields and walls.  However, these same shields and walls can make a Guardian appear emotionally distant and aloof.

3.)  Guardians often feel displaced and even angry / aggressive toward the world around them.  Yet if this tendency is harnessed properly it can become an asset of much strength.

4.)  Guardians, as the name implies, are warrior archetypes.  As such, they will exude a strong, sometimes foreboding, “masculine” quality.  The image of the “big dumb warrior” usually belies a more complex inner nature.
Priest Sphere
Priests are those which take hold of the energy brought into sacred space by the Mediums and
shape it.  Energy is like putty in their hands bending and altering in conformity with their will.  Not only can a Priest easily manipulate subtle energy, but they can also sense and literally “feel” the ebb, flow, and patterns of energy in and out of ritual as well.  Such skills make them natural
leaders.  Even so, this quality of leadership is not to be confused with being any more (or less)
important than the other two Spheres.

In much the same manner as with the Mediums Sphere, the Priest Sphere has advantages as
well as drawbacks.

1.)  A Priest’s force of will is often considerable.  Left unmoderated this same force of will can turn egotistical and overbearing.

2.)  Priests regularly think on multiple levels at one time performing mental gymnastics. Unfortunately, this can appear to leave them unfocused on the simple everyday tasks.

3.)  A Priest’s ability to manipulate subtle energy at will typically means they have little ability to channel or ground and usually require a little help with both.

4.)  Being neither a channel (Medium / feminine) nor a ground (Guardian / masculine) for subtle energy, Priests have a tendency to be gender neutral in both appearance and personality.
The energy which exemplifies each of the Spheres is archetypal in nature.  The descriptions
below are based on the pure archetype that each represents.  It must be remembered that any
given individual will most likely not exhibit all of the qualities given as examples.  However, one’s
energetic self, one’s psychological self, and one’s physical self are mirror images of one
another... each having an effect on the two others.

The ideology of the Spheres is to understand which archetype runs strongest through you.
From that base line you can explore your own potential, the qualities of the other two Spheres,
and your role in ritual more completely.
